Presidents Message - February
On behalf of the Board, I hope you are all enjoying a good new year as we arrive in February!
As we progress through the year, we will continue to work on items that are in the community interest such as the Banff Trail development, North Hill Mall development, Community Centre expansion and the secondary suites issue. The recent community survey (please see a summary of the results in this newsletter) has provided us insights into the community’s expectations and viewpoints on these topics, which we are using to ensure alignment in how the board approaches them. These are challenging times and there will always be a spectrum of views and sensitivities, and as a board we are all working hard to ensure we account for these in the context of what can be accomplished with a small group of dedicated individuals and the broader City of Calgary goals. Each board member has dedicated their personal time to support the community they all know and love. Your support is always appreciated and welcomed so please find a way to get engaged to help the community at large. In 2018, Hounsfield Heights and Briar Hill will be celebrating 65 years as a community and this would not be possible had it not been for the efforts of those who came before us tending to the well being of our community. They have paid it forward and I look to you to do the same! Please watch for the signs announcing Briar Hill School’s annual book sale in March and find those gently used books that you can donate to support a good cause. Remember books are not meant to sit on a shelf but to be read, and what better opportunity to get them out and enjoyed by others than this!
Please remember your attendance at the Board meetings, which are held at 7:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month from September through June at the Community Hall at 1922 – 14 Avenue NW, is a great way to stay up to date on what is happening and to
ensure your ideas and concerns are heard and incorporated into the management of the community association.
