Fond Memories by Jim and Jeanne Wong

We purchased our house in 1953 and have lived here for forty-eight years. In 1953, there were no sidewalks, no roads, and no streetlights.

We bought debentures on the community hall to be built and eventually, the Briar Hill Community was established. We had two girls, Sherry and Deanna who participated in the Kindergarten program which was located in the community hall and taught by Mrs. Hutchingson. Mr. Harder escorted the children across 19th St every day. Both girls then move don to Briar Hill School for grades one through six. Deanna attended baton lessons at the community hall for many years which was taught by Lynda Feingold. The girls also got a lot of use out of the skating rinks.

We then took up square dancing which was being offered at the community hall. Here we are thirty-two years later, still square dancing. We celebrated our 25th Anniversary at the hall. Many of our friends and relatives attended. Throughout the years, we have attended many parties, functions and get-togethers at the community hall. We hope to stay in this community for many years to come.
