The City of Calgary is collecting feedback from Calgarians throughout the month of June.
Whether you use Calgary pathways and bikeways to commute to work or school, for exercise or to explore our city, we want to hear about your experience. We’re planning for the future so that it’s easier for you to get to your destinations and explore Calgary using our pathway and bikeway network.
Wednesday, June 14, 7:00 to 9:00 pm
It will be held at the Go-Getters Club Room @ West Hillhurst Community Association
As mentioned in The Beacon last month, there is a new project underway in Motel Village at 2416 16 Ave NW (the site on which Boston Pizza and Canada's Best Value Inn presently exist) to build a mixed-use development that includes a 30-storey student high rise with 328 housing units for over 500 students. The tower will be connected to a 4-storey podium that will be used for professional and commercial uses to accommodate a medical clinic and a large restaurant. The tower is located in the northeast portion of the site.
As I write this message in early May for the June edition of The Beacon, there are several important issues that have come to the attention of our community association’s board. These issues have long lasting implications and should serve to make us all think about what it is to be a community within the City of Calgary, and the importance of working together to control what our future here will look like. Unfortunately, my crystal ball is on the fritz today so I have no idea what may have transpired by the time you read this.
Blue Cart recycling tip of the Month
Recycle your old gadgets and electronics the right way!
Electronics recycling depots are available around the city to help Calgarians properly dispose of their old and broken televisions, printers and computers.
Never put electronics into your blue cart – they will damage the sorting equipment at the recycling facility and can harm the workers.
